I, Mangala Solanke, President of Majalgaon Vikas Pratishthan, would like to share details of our work in the last 22 years in Majalgaon.
Majalgaon Vikas Pratishthan (MVP), the NGO was started by Mr Prakash Suderrao Solanke and me in January 2004. We felt a need for social development in this area of Maharashtra and started work in Majalgaon, Mr Prakash Solanke, MLA’s constituency, a town in Beed District, Marathwada.
We had already started social activities in the area by setting up Sindphana Public School, in 2002, which today is among the best CBSE schools in Marathwada, with a strength of 1500 plus students.
The Jagruti project (the awakening) launched in August 2003 was a program for Self Help Groups (SHGs) for women, mostly farm labourers. Ms Neela Deshmukh played a major role in this project as she had a great deal of experience in this field. This has helped thousands of women to increase their earnings and lead more enlightened lives.
Aadhar (support) was started in June 2005 to sponsor fatherless children, mostly girls for their health and education. Mr Ram Belavadi was our guide and mentor for this project. He being the founder member of CASP an NGO which today looks after more than 40000 children was able to help us tremendously.
President's Message
Jagruti Mahila Nagari Patha Sanstha (JMNPS) or a micro credit society was the next project undertaken by us was to bring about financial independence in households run by women, in May 2005.
MVP is committed to bring about progress in the lives of the residents in and around Majalgaon through its various activities. Civic and educational needs are equally looked after along with women empowerment and poverty eradication projects.
MVP stays committed to the social wellbeing of Majalgaon residents by ensuring opportunities for quality education.
We then started Nursing schools, ANM in 2008 and GNM in 2011. We got an excellent response for both and our nurses were getting jobs immediately in hospitals in Aurangabad, Pune and Mumbai. Encouraged by this we started Jijamata College of Nursing where we have B Sc Nursing and Post Basic B Sc as well.
In 2021, we started Jijamata College of Physiotherapy looking at the importance and need of therapy post injuries and surgeries.
It was my in Law’s Late Shri Sunderrao Solanke and Late Shrimati Ratnamala Solanke’s dream that we should have a multispeciality hospital in Majalgaon for the convenience of the people of all the villages around. The 2 closest Talukas are Wadavni and Dharur. The population of all the 3 talukas comes to more than 7 lakhs. Since the closest good hospitals are only in Latur and Aurangabad which are 3 hours away, it would be very beneficial to people to have a well equipped and well run hospital.
This is in brief the work that Majalgaon Vikas pratishthan has done in the last 20 years .
